Product & Project Office | Volvo Powertrain Industrial, Köping

At Volvo Powertrain Industrial in Köping, we deliver world-class transmission and driveline solutions that support Volvo Group's global product portfolio. As the Center of Excellence for transmission solutions, we play a vital role in bringing new products into production, implementing product changes, and ensuring operational excellence.

We are now looking for a Project Manager Operations to join our Product & Project Office.

The project portfolio includes both Product Maintenance and New Product Introduction, ranging from product updates to the industrialization of new technologies and future driveline solutions.
Each project presents its own challenges, but all require strong leadership, stakeholder management, structured planning, disciplined follow-up, and the ability to turn decisions into results.
This role is for someone who understands that successful project management requires execution, communication, accountability, and leadership.

About the role

As Project Manager Operations, you will lead several projects in parallel and act as the link between production, manufacturing engineering, quality, logistics, purchasing, maintenance, product development, and management teams.
You will be responsible for translating project objectives, technical requirements, business priorities, and stakeholder expectations into structured plans, activities, milestones, risk management, and deliverables. You will ensure that progress is tracked, deviations are addressed, decisions are implemented, and actions are completed according to plan.
You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across both local and global organizations. Success depends on your ability to understand the bigger picture while maintaining focus on the details that determine project outcomes. Strong leadership is essential in an environment where priorities may differ, requiring you to build trust, create alignment, constructively challenge when needed, and keep projects moving forward as conditions change.
You will lead cross-functional teams, manage dependencies, control project cost and timing, escalate risks and issues when required, and prepare decision material for steering committees and site management.

Main responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple parallel projects from concept through implementation
  • Translate strategic objectives, customer requirements, and technical specifications into clear project plans, milestones, deliverables, and responsibilities
  • Drive project execution while maintaining focus on safety, quality, cost, timing, and business value
  • Identify, assess, and proactively manage risks, dependencies, constraints, and opportunities
  • Lead and motivate cross-functional teams in both local and global environments
  • Establish effective communication and alignment among stakeholders at all organizational levels
  • Prepare and present project status, risks, recommendations, and decision material to management and steering committees
  • Ensure decisions are translated into actions and implemented according to plan
  • Support continuous improvement of project management methodologies, governance processes, structures, and ways of working

Who You Are

You are an experienced project leader who thrives in complex environments where multiple projects, stakeholders, priorities, and dependencies must be managed simultaneously.
You are equally comfortable discussing technical details with engineers as presenting project status to management teams and steering committees.
You work in a structured and proactive way, creating robust project plans, managing risks early, and ensuring actions are followed through. You address issues before they become problems, take action when needed, and escalate appropriately.
You combine a strong execution focus with good business understanding. You recognize the importance of cost control, timing, quality, and operational impact, and continuously adjust plans, priorities, and actions to keep projects on track.
You are a natural relationship-builder who leads with clarity and purpose, combining high expectations with genuine engagement. By building trust and encouraging collaboration, you enable teams to perform at their best.

Qualifications

We believe you bring:

  • BSc or MSc degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Proven project management experience within manufacturing, industry, automotive, or another technical environment
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Strong planning, risk management, and execution skills
  • Experience managing complex projects with multiple interfaces and dependencies
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong business understanding combined with technical curiosity
  • Fluent English, written and spoken
  • Swedish is considered an advantage
